Get ready for the imminent launch of BMW’s latest addition to the ‘M’ range, the M 1000 XR, as this highly anticipated sports touring motorcycle makes a sneak peek appearance at the Isle of Man TT ahead of its official reveal

BMW is close to adding another ‘M’ model to the range as the M 1000 XR is spied at the Isle of Man TT just days prior to the launch.

The bike was spotted hiding in plain site at the Isle of Man TT and FHO’s own Peter Hickman was seen leaving the pitlane at the end of one of the sidecar sessions. Other pictures of the bike have also arrived on social media, as eagle-eyed fans took captured the bike sitting in the paddock. From looking at the images of the new machine, it looks to be running carbon rims and quite a lot of other carbon trinkets. As is the BMW way, it’s not clear if these are standard on the bike, or if you’ll be bumping up the price to actually end up with this example sat in your garage! Other elements of note are the wings of the bike, carbon nose spoiler, sporty high-level silencer and racy blue brake calipers. As with the rims, we’ll wait to see if all of that is included in the price when the official details land.

The bike has also been seen as a concept sketch on the BMW social media channels – as per the picture at the top of the page. The bike shown in the image has a matching silhouette to that of the existing S 1000 XR, albeit with BMW’s trademark ‘M’ graphic adorning the fuel tank of the bike. The new version of the XR is a similar theme to that of the Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak; a hotter, harder and more focused version of the existing sports touring model.

Once launched, the new M 1000 XR will join up all the 1,000cc inline sports models offered by the Bavarian brand, joining the M 1000 RR sportsbike and M 1000 R naked. Until the details of the bike land, slated for June 6th at 4 pm UK time, we have nothing concrete to go on in terms of specs, power, torque or price. There are rumours though of the bike making around 210 bhp, near enough the same amount as the naked version of the machine. Whether that turns out to be true is anyone’s guess.
