WALCHA MOTORCYCLE RALLY 2024: Gearing up for another great year!
Walcha sits at the crossroads of two of the best riding roads in Australia, the Oxley Highway and Thunderbolts Way. It’s the southern gateway to New England High Country and some of Australia’s most spectacular scenery. Motorcyclists have always been drawn to Walcha, so an event to celebrate this has turned out to be a winner for the town and visiting motorcyclists.
The ride to get to Walcha is the start of the fun, and at 1067m above sea level there are hills, winding roads and expansive vistas to enjoy, as well as hundreds of kilometres of dirt roads to explore.
The annual motorcycle rally, held in November, attracts riders from across Australia. There are organised rides for both adventure riders and road riders, onsite camping, trade exhibitors, motorcycle show & shine, postie bike events, enduro x, barrel racing, skills demos, stunt shows, competitions, Q&As, live music and more. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate all things motorcycling in a relaxed rural setting, with like-minded people.
This year’s program includes attendance by several world record holders including Wendy Crockett and Ian McPhee who hold the Guinness World Record for the Longest journey on a motorcycle (129,082 km) in a single country (team) in 2022 in USA. Adventure rider legend Miles Davis will be offering his pre-booked off-road training as well as doing onsite skill demos at the event and we’re excited to have Niki Zak returning with her drag bike and display, the first woman in the world to eclipse 200mph on the 1/4 mile.
