BMW Collaborates with Vagabund on an Updated Electric CE 02
The partnership between BMW Motorrad Austria in Salzburg and VAGABUND in Graz has produced a motorcycle that defies conventional design norms. Paul Brauchart, founder and managing director of VAGABUND Moto GmbH, expressed his enthusiasm for the project: “We were immediately in love when we saw the CE 02 for the first time at the BMW Motorrad Days in Berlin. The overall design of the CE 02 was simply a ‘perfect match’ for us, as we at VAGABUND are always trying to break new ground and reinterpret existing products in our own way.”
Retro-Future Aesthetics
The BMW CE 02 x VAGABUND seamlessly blends futuristic design with retro elements, creating a bike that feels both cutting-edge and nostalgically familiar. This unique aesthetic is aimed at a younger audience, eager for innovation but appreciative of classic touches. The bike features an “electric exhaust” that doubles as a stylish storage space for an umbrella, showcasing VAGABUND’s knack for combining form and function.
One of the standout features is the integration of the “OB-4 Magic Radio” from Teenage Engineering, which perfectly complements the bike’s youthful and creative spirit. The running board adorned with skateboard grip tape also emphasizes the sporty, urban vibe that defines the e-parkourer style.
Practical and Stylish
The CE 02 x VAGABUND is not just about looks; it’s designed to be practical for urban environments. The bike’s packaging, standing at an impressive 3.6 meters high, is a testament to the overall concept of blending style with substance.
While traditional motorcycle enthusiasts, especially those who follow Australian Motorcyclist Magazine, might be sceptical about electric motorcycles, the BMW CE 02 x VAGABUND could spark a new interest. Its innovative design, combined with practical urban features, presents a compelling case for the future of motorcycling.
