In February, Australia witnessed a significant event focused on electric vehicles and home power solutions at the Everything Electric Australia expo, held in Sydney from February 9 to 11. This three-day event highlighted the offerings and challenges facing buyers and distributors in the evolving electric vehicle market. It was touted as hosting the largest electric test drive program in the southern hemisphere, primarily showcasing cars and commercial vehicles.
Among the standout participants was Savic Motorcycles, which announced plans to launch its highly anticipated C-Series electric motorcycle. Dennis Savic, the CEO and founder of Savic Motorcycles, expressed enthusiasm about the feedback from Australian riders, stating, “We know we’ve built a great bike and we’re looking forward to gaining valuable feedback from riders that we can use to continue development and build new features and updates to enhance their ownership experience.”
The C-Series is equipped with a 16.2 kWh lithium-ion battery, Brembo brakes, and an ABS system developed in collaboration with Bosch Australia. Notably, it features regeneration technology that replenishes power each time the rider applies the brakes, giving the C-Series Alpha a claimed range of over 200 kilometers on a single charge.
While the introduction of e-motorcycles can be polarizing among veteran riders, some industry experts, like Bromley, believed that Savic motorcycles possessed the aesthetics, performance, and technological advancements necessary to attract new audiences to electric biking.
The Everything Electric Australia expo showcased the progress and potential of electric vehicles, leaving attendees excited about the future of sustainable transportation in the country.
